Federal income tax
Estimated using the stated IRS tax-year brackets after the standard deduction. Credits and itemized deductions are not applied.

Take-home pay
Estimated net pay after the taxes included in this calculator.
How this calculation works
- Enter an annual salary or hourly wage, hours per week and filing status.
- The calculator converts between annual and hourly pay, then estimates federal income tax and FICA for the stated tax year.
- State/local taxes are excluded. This is annualized liability, not W-4 withholding.
Estimated take-home pay = Gross pay − Entered deductions − Federal income tax − Social Security − Medicare
Annualized estimate for one worker using the selected tax year, federal income tax, employee FICA and qualifying pretax deductions. It does not recreate W-4 withholding.
- Take-home pay
- Take-home pay is estimated net income after the federal income tax, FICA and qualifying pretax deductions included in this calculator.
